A run to please

JOHN Smollen is gearing up for his 10th Peninsula Toy Run.
The Pearcedale resident has organised the annual event since it began with 80 bikes in 2000.
About 700 riders took part in the 2009 ride from the Frankston Pier to Rosebud.
Riders meet at the Frankston Pier car park with donations of canned and packaged food or new toys, which are for underprivileged families around the Peninsula.
Donations are given to the Food For All organisation in Rosebud for the purchase of food and toys.
Riders will assemble at the car park from 8am on 4 December, with the ride leaving at 9.30am. There will be prizes for the best decorated bike and rider.
The Toy Run is open to all motorcyclists. Anyone who wishes to make a donation can call John Smollen on 5978 6280.
