LYNBROOK twins are looking for some entertainment a little closer to home.
Mario Bonica said his 12-year-old twins Braden and Lachlan are eager to see a skate park built in Lynbrook.
At the moment, Mr Bonica drives about 40 minutes to take his sons to the large indoor skate park in Braybrook.
“I’d rather they were closer to home,” he said.
Mr Bonica said the youth of Lynbrook needed something in the rapidly growing town.
“Lynbrook is booming at the moment. There are a lot of kids in the area and there is not a lot for them to do.
“You could make it simple, or make it big. There is a lot of room down at the local park near the bike track.”
Casey Council’s skate strategy identifies Banjo Paterson Reserve in Lynbrook as the site for a transportable skate facility sometime in the future.
Mr Bonica said while The Shed was set to re-open in Cranbourne soon, it would be important to still build something in Lynbrook.
Casey councillor Amanda Stapledon agreed.
“The population of Lynbrook/Lyndhurst is growing rapidly. A skate ramp would bring an opportunity for the youth in the area to come together and enjoy a activity that will build their skills and fitness,” Cr Stapledon said.
Money has been committed for improvements at Lynbrook Oval and plans are under way for new sports facilities such as football/cricket ovals and netball courts at Marriott Waters Estate at Lyndhurst.
