Students lead by example

HAMPTON Park school students are leading the way in innovation and excellence.
Up and coming leaders from four Hampton Park primary schools joined forces with the secondary college in a Youth Leadership Forum last week.
Students from Hampton Park Primary, Coral Park Primary, Kilberry Valley Primary and River Gum Primary attended the all-day workshop at Hampton Park Secondary College in a bid to improve student leadership.
Hampton Park Primary School teacher Christine Wakeling said captains and vice-captains took part in a range of activities designed to build their capacities as leaders.
She said the forum was part of the Innovations and Excellence Program.
“We are building the capacities of our leaders for 2006,” Ms Wakeling said.
“Students studied modules in public speaking, organisation, responsibility, team work, confidence and other skills that will prepare them for the following years.
“It is a brilliant program that brings all schools together.
“It is good for the primary school students to work with the secondary college as a sort of mentoring program.”
