Rail network buckles under Labor: Peulich

Member for South-East Metro Region, Inga Peulich MLC says the public transport system was in “chaos” after figures show Cranbourne’s train line services had “deteriorated significantly.”

Ms Peulich slammed the Andrews Labor Government for presiding over significant reductions in punctuality according to Public Transport Victoria (PTV) statistics.

According to Ms Peulich, the number of services delivered on time since November 2014 fell by 9.4 per cent on the Cranbourne Line, 6.1 per cent on the Pakenham Line.

“Daniel Andrews has failed to provide a reliable and punctual public transport network, and commuters in the South-East are feeling the strain,” she said.

“Commuters should not tolerate more of the same service disruptions that have encroached on their lives under the Andrews Labor Government.”

Ms Peulich said Labors’s “band-aid approach won’t cut it.”

“The Liberal Nationals have a comprehensive plan to manage the strain on our public transport, so that commuters have the better, faster and reliable services they need,” she added.

Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan said Labor “won’t take lectures” from the Liberals who “had four years, promised lots and delivered nothing.”

“We don’t just talk about public transport, we get things done – we’ve delivered 10 minute frequencies, we are removing level crossings and building the Metro Tunnel to get you home safer and sooner,” she said.

“Only Labor will deliver better bus connections, removing every level crossing on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines to get locals where they need to go.”
