$42K scout hall makeover pledge

Devon Meadows Scouts Hall will receive a $42,500 facelift if the Liberal Nationals are elected at this month’s state election.

Restoration works will include the elimination of termites and replacement of the ageing roof.

The Coalition says the funding will help local scouts to continue their outstanding work in supporting, training and mentoring our local youth.

The Devon Meadows community has long cherished its local scout hall and the confidence and life leadership skills local scouts provide to so many young people.

Shadow Minister for Young Victorians, Steph Ryan said: “With the establishment of large house estates in neighbouring Clyde and Botanic Ridge, it is imperative that we invest in the provision of first-class facilities for our local Scouting groups.

Only the Liberal Nationals understand the need to provide families and youth the very best facilities that are safe and easily accessible for the community.”

Member for Hastings Neale Burgess said he was proud to be part of a Liberal Nationals’ team which is getting population growth “back in control” in the region and providing the “very best facilities for local scouts.”

“The current hall is not fit-for-purpose and is desperately needing this funding,” he said.

“This is fantastic news for the many families and kids who are proud members of the 1st Devon Meadows Scouts Group.”

A re-elected Labor Government has promised to provide $5.5 million towards building new scout halls in growing areas and upgrade and repair existing halls across Victoria.

The State Government also announced it would contribute $650,000 towards building a new hall for the Narre Warren South Scout Group.
