Teddy bears to sponge violence

THE Endeavour Hills Lions Club has donated 25 teddy bears to the Family Violence Unit at Cranbourne police station.
Pauline Spry said the club decided to purchase the bears and present them to the station to help the children of Casey.
“We’ve donated them before to other needy groups in the area,” Ms Spry said.
“And we feel these bears will help the children come to terms with the things that happen to them.”
Acting Sergeant Brad Cummins from the Cranbourne police station said police would use the teddy bears to help “engage” children who have been involved in family violence incidents in the City of Casey.
“We are certainly very happy with the teddy bears,” he said.
“This will have a great impact on the outcome police can achieve with children exposed to family violence.”
Ms Spry says the club plans to donate more teddy bears to the Casey-based Family Violence Unit.
