Seven new world-class schools will open in Casey within the next four years, a re-elected Labor Government has promised.
In a pitch to the family vote with the state election looming, Labor has announced, as part of the $850 million investment, to deliver schools in some of the fastest growing communities including:
• Botanic Ridge Primary School, opening 2020
• Casey Fields (Five Ways) Primary School, opening 2020
• Clyde North East Primary School, opening 2020
• Cranbourne West Secondary and Special School, opening 2021
• Clyde North Primary, opening 2022
• Clyde North Secondary College, opening 2022
This builds on Tulliallan Primary School and Wilandra Rise Primary School – which opened in 2017 and 2018.
In a statement, Labor says every child should have a good local school and the chance to succeed in life, and only a “re-elected Labor Government will deliver that for kids across our outer suburbs.”
Minister for Education James Merlino said schools and students in the south-east “deserve our support – not the Liberals’ cuts and closures.”
“Victorian school enrolments are growing and we need to plan ahead,” Mr Merlino said. “All the Liberal Party do is talk about moving people to regional Victoria – but we know the best way to handle population growth is to build new schools and invest in the infrastructure people need.”
The Liberals have been contacted for comment.
