The roar of motorcycles will engulf Cranbourne on Saturday 27 October as the community gears up for one of the City of Casey’s biggest annual events.

The Cranbourne GP Run is nearly here with thousands of people expected to turn out to wave-off the thousands of motorcyclists as they head off en-mass from High Street in Cranbourne to the 2018 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Celebrity guest Arj Barker will head up in the cherry picker, accompanied by City of Casey Mayor Cr Geoff Ablett, and host the wave-off at 10am.

Cr Ablett said the event was one not to be missed with an electric atmosphere taking hold of Cranbourne.

“The annual GP Run is one of our most popular events and sees the community line High Street to witness thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts ride through Cranbourne headed for Phillip Island,” he said.

“While the main event is one to be remembered there are also plenty of other attractions happening on the day.

“There will be market stalls, food and drink vans and workshops for the kids, which makes for a fantastic morning out for the entire family.”

Council will also be sending one lucky community member off to the official Grand Prix for an outstanding experience, which includes a double grandstand pass, paddock tour and pit lane walk.

The winner of the competition, which has now closed, will be announced during the week and invited to collect their prize from Arj Barker at the Cranbourne GP Run.

The Casey Cardinia Foundation was also announced as the charity partner for the day, and Cr Ablett said council is thrilled to contribute to this extremely worthwhile charity.

“The Casey Cardinia Foundation raises funds for local community groups throughout the area that service the needs of both Casey and Cardinia residents,” he said.

Festivities will kick off in Cranbourne at 8am, with the wave-off at 10am.

Visit Council’s website and stay tuned to its Facebook page in the lead up the event to find out about changed traffic conditions in the area.
