Neil is a gem

– Bridget Brady
A HUMBLED Neil Marriott became the fifth Rotary Club of Cranbourne member to be awarded the prestigious Sapphire Pin last week.
Mr Marriott has held various positions on the Rotary board, including president and treasurer and said he always believed people had an obligation to contribute to the community if they had the opportunity to do so.
“My priorities in life have always been to family, career and involvement in the community,” he said.
Mr Marriott said he was “humbled and honoured” to receive the award in the presence of family and friends and last week’s annual changeover dinner.
The cattle farmer, who donates his time in a soup kitchen in Melbourne every two weeks, is a member of the Berwick Show committee and said it was wonderful to see a rural show still alive in a growing area.
Mr Marriott helped introduce the popular business breakfasts for the club which fellow Rotarian and uncle Ern Marriott said had become “a great success story”.
“Neil’s commitment and dedication to Rotary is an example to us all,” Ern Marriott said.
