Staff at Highview Accounting and Financial in Cranbourne has been recognised after fund-raising more than $25000 for a charity aimed at keeping children safe from violence.
The Alannah and Madeline Foundation hosted a special morning tea to say thank you to all staff for their valuable contribution on Tuesday 18 September.
Guest speaker, Zan Schmidt who is the foundation’s community fundraising coordinator spoke to the group about the difference their financial contribution had made to hundreds of children.
The company raised more than $13000 in 2017 with Silvio Marinelli, partner of Highview also personally fundraising more than $12000 by participating in the Run Melbourne Half Marathon in August.
“Zan showed the team a clip prepared by the foundation, and it was a real touching moment for staff to see exactly where the fundraising goes and how our support is helping to keep children safe from violence,” said Highview marketing manager Brodie Crowther.
“Highview were the Alannah Madeline Foundation’s second highest fundraiser in 2017.”
Ms Crowther said she hoped their fundraising efforts would inspire other businesses to “make a huge difference to a charity or foundation if they put their mind to it.”
Mr Marinelli, who was presented with a framed memento, said he was “incredibly grateful” to all those that donated and supported him during his half marathon.
“I was able to take 17 minutes off last years’ time and raise a total of $12108.57,” he said.
Mr Marinelli said he was motivated to make “everyday count” after losing a friend to cancer in 2016.
“Seeing the impact that our fundraising directly made to this foundation was uplifting. Our funds made a positive impact in the lives of over 260 children in 2017,” he said.
Highview will be hosting a trivia night at the Cranbourne Turf Club on Thursday 15 November and aim to sell more than 300 tickets to again raise funds for the Alannah and Madeline Foundation. “We’ve set a goal of raising another $10K at our trivia night,” said Ms Crowther.
