Students at Rivercrest Christian College put on a successful exhibition where they were able to advocate for specific world issues to their friends, family and wider community on Tuesday, 11 September.
Some students used the evening to raise funds for charities and organisations supporting their cause.
Dr Michelle Cafini, Head of Rivercrest Christian College, was proud to host the evening, showcasing the student’s work and emphasising the student’s roles in raising awareness for world issues.
The exhibition is the culmination of the Primary Years Programme and is a rite of passage for the Year 5 students as they move from the Primary Campus to the Middle Years Campus in 2019.
The Exhibition is an opportunity for students in Year 5 to celebrate their learning journey thus far and show case action, a range of transdisciplinary skills, attitudes and understandings linked to a personal inquiry.
The focus this year has been around the central idea ‘Children worldwide experience a range of challenges, risks and opportunities’. This theme has guided students as they worked collaboratively to investigate a range of world issues such as poverty, child labour, homelessness, bullying, autism spectrum and the education of girls around the world.
There was a formal opening of the exhibition where students had an opportunity to present a song that they had created themselves as well as describe their learning journey to an audience.
