Caught speeding through road works

A P-plater has been caught more than 50 km/h over the limit in Cranbourne West on Wednesday the 8 August.

The 22-year-old man was nabbed travelling 111km/h in a 60 km/h zone through roadworks on the Western Port Highway at 8pm.

Police pulled over the Mitsubishi and the driver’s car was immediately impounded for a month.

Police allege the driver had disclosed it was not the first time he had had a vehicle impounded.

“Of most concern to the driver was how he was going to explain this to the vehicles owner who now has to walk to work,” a Victoria Police spokesman said.

He expected to be charged on summons with speeding.
