Kids paint and create for NAIDOC

By Brendan Rees

Apple Blossoms Early Learning in Narre Warren joined in the celebrations of NAIDOC week by inviting the community to the opening of their Outdoor Story Telling space ‘Wallan Place.’

Centre Director Donna Cobelli said they prided themselves on allowing children the opportunity to nurture the love of learning through play in their natural environment.

“We were extremely excited to have a special guest, Indigenous Artist Leah Sandow who created some beautiful pieces of artwork with the children and educators,” she said. “These will be hung proudly at our service.”

“Our kinder children performed the Acknowledgement of Country for our visitors and guests, then we were all able to sample some delicious bush tucker.”

The centre celebrated NAIDOC week with their children and families throughout the week and hope to give all the children at the service a greater understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders peoples culture.

Ms Cobelli said “We would like to give a special thank you to Fabian Villella of O’Brien Real Estate in Narre Wareen for the sponsorship of our signs for this event.
