FRESH fruit will be on the menu on Fridays at Courtenay Gardens Primary School after a $4000 funding announcement.
Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley last week announced the school would receive more than $4000 for preps to grade two students to enjoy weekly serves of fruit and vegetables.
More than 120,000 other primary school students now have access to the Go For Your Life Free Fruit Friday program.
“Children need fresh fruit and vegetables every day to grow up healthy and strong,” Ms Graley said.
“And this program has proven to be a fantastic way to get these vital health messages across,” Ms Graley said.
“We all know that bad habits are harder to break as you get older, so it is imperative that children develop a healthy attitude to food while they are still young.
“A crunchy apple or a juicy orange is a quick and easy snack that is great for young kids.”
