THE City of Casey and CFA will host a range of fire related information sessions to be held in Casey throughout February and March.
Meetings on township protection plans will be held in Harkaway, Blind Bight, Cannon’s Creek and Warneet and will cater to specific groups within the community. Courses will also be held which will cover community fire preparedness training.
Topics covered in the information sessions will range from practical tips on vegetation management and risk management as well as how to support friends and family emotionally after a bushfire.
Casey mayor Lorraine Wreford said the fire season still has a long way to go and it was therefore important to keep up to date with the latest information and also remain vigilant.
‘I really encourage those residents who reside in high fire risk areas within Casey to participate and fully understand the challenges of dealing with fire.
‘Unfortunately, the 12-month anniversary of Black Saturday was a timely reminder that we must all continue to work together to ensure our homes are prepared, our communities are safe and human life is protected’, said Cr Wreford.
