Orders in full bloom

ORDERS are in full bloom at Woops a Daisy Florist in Cranbourne with Valentine’s Day just around the corner.
Florist owner Pauline Cargill said orders had started to pick up already for their busiest day of the year – 14 February – but she expected many would still leave it to the last minute.
“We would expect to work until about 2 to 3am on Saturday and Sunday morning to make sure all the orders are ready for Valentines Day,” she said.
“Our orders usually triple.”
Ms Cargill said a dozen red roses had been the gift of choice for most but gerberas and oriental lilies had also proved popular. She suggested teddy bears, chocolates, balloons and soaps as great gift alternatives for that special someone.
During her time as a florist, Ms Cargill said she has had some pretty extravagant orders over the years.
“One man last year had a single rose sent to his girlfriend’s work every hour, on the hour, from 8am,” she said. “Then at 5pm sent a whole bunch along with jewellery.”
Ms Cargill said people should treat Valentine’s Day as a good, fun day and not get upset if they don’t have a Valentine or don’t get what they want.
Woops a Daisy Florist, 18 High Street, Cranbourne, will be open on Valentine’s Day to pick up a last minute gift.
