Father and son rivals roll on – Neil Drummond, right, gets son Ryan in a headlock before they

By Bridget Brady
SOME friendly family rivalry between a father and son heated up the bowling greens at the Cranbourne RSL last week.
Neil Drummond, 58, and son Ryan, 28, battled it out for the Cranbourne RSL Bowling Club championship on Friday – and the younger Drummond came out on top.
Ryan said he was happy to beat his father for the first time, with a score of 25-11 as his dad was quite the competitor.
“It’s always good to beat dad at something. He never lets me win anything,” Ryan said.
Neil is a seasoned campaigner at the Cranbourne RSL Bowling Club, having won the championship nine times.
But while it was strictly business on the greens, Ryan said there was no bad blood between the two after the game.
“He was a little bit upset but we ended up having a beer after the game and it was all good.
“I’ve got a pretty good relationship with dad. He’s one of my best mates.”
Ryan said his father introduced him to bowls after he broke his ankle.
“I used to play footy and when I broke my ankle dad said come down and give it a go – and I haven’t looked back.”
