Clyde North’s growing Ramleigh Estate will receive a new major community centre thanks to a State Government announcement of a $1.2 million Growing Suburbs Fund (GSF).
Member for Eastern Victoria Daniel Mulino said the grant will help deliver the Ramleigh Family and Community Centre which will be located in one of the most popular new residential areas.
The project will deliver two maternal and child health consulting rooms with a storage and waiting area, a large multipurpose community room and outdoor yard, a community kitchen, three licensed kindergarten rooms, staff and public amenities, a staffed reception area and car parking spaces.
The project also includes the supply of furniture, fittings and equipment that is accessible for all community members.
Funding is part of the 2017-19 GSF round, which is supporting seven projects across the City of Casey through a total of $7.7 million.
The GSF aims to improve the amenity, liveability and resilience of communities in Victoria’s 10 interface councils on Melbourne’s fringe.
Mr Mulino said the community centre will be a great asset to young families moving into the estate.
“The Ramleigh Estate will house thousands of new dwellings over the coming years so it’s vital we meet the needs of this community.”
Minister for Local Government Marlene Kairouz said “We’re getting on with delivering the facilities that a growing area like Clyde deserves.”
City of Casey Mayor Cr Geoff Ablett thanked the State Government for their contribution and said Council looked forward to bringing the project to fruition.
“Council welcomes these funding announcements and will continue to advocate to the State and Federal Governments to further invest in this region, particularly in transport infrastructure to get traffic moving so residents can enjoy the facilities and services we deliver.”
