The Christmas spirit has spread to Cranbourne after the Aiding Casey Foundation (ACE) got a very welcomed $1000 donation gift.
Cranbourne’s Inner Wheel Club was proud to present the cheque at the club’s 25th anniversary at the Blue Hills Retirement Village in Cranbourne on Monday 11 December which was attended by more than 35 people.
Cranbourne GP Dr Leon Shapero set up the Foundation in 2014 which aims to encourage, support and help educate local teenage students.
Dr Shapero said the Foundation was grateful to receive the $1000 cheque which would help visually impaired children with glasses as well as providing them with food.
“Certainly we’re very thankful to the Inner Wheel Club for their generous donation,” he said.
“The money for the foundation that is raised or donated goes 100 per cent to the children.”
“All of the thousand dollars donated by Inner Wheel will eventually reach a child.”
“They will be used in the next 12 months to assist our program of feeding hungry kids in high schools of Cranbourne, particularly to help the provision of free glasses to kids with visual impairment. “
He said the Foundation arranged free eye testing for children at schools and clinics.
“It’s a program across the whole shire for all primary school students.”
ACE Foundation board member and Casey Councillor Amanda Stapledon said: “This is an amazing achievement by some hard working women who quietly go about helping so many in our community.”
Cranbourne’s Inner Wheel Club President Carol Mulvogue said the ACE Foundation was important in helping children.
“It’s a worthwhile charity. They need all the help they can get.”
She said the Inner wheel Club was proud to celebrate its 25th anniversary. “There’s not too many of the original members left but it keeps growing. They’re always after new members,” she said.
The Inner Wheel Club will host a trivia fundraiser evening on Saturday 24 February at the Balla Balla Community Centre in Cranbourne at 7pm. $25 per head. To book call Debbie 0412 583 967. Everyone is welcome to attend.
