Charged over threats to police

A MAN armed himself with a crowbar and metal mallet as he made threats to police when they were called to a Hampton Park home last week.
Police were called to a house in Peppermint Court about 3.40pm on 1 January in relation to a breach of an intervention order. A man, 33, allegedly commented that he wanted to engage police and put on a welder’s helmet, heavy jacket and armed himself with a crowbar, hammer, metal mallet and a large wrench and approached police while continuing to make threats. Police used capsicum foam and tackled him to the ground and when they searched the man they discovered he had a knife concealed in his clothing. One police officer suffered cuts to the face and swelling as a result of the incident.
