Kids get active

By Brendan Rees

Pupils were treated to a world of fun during their annual sports day at Tooradin Primary School.
With 12 activities on hand, there was no shortage of choice as students enjoyed a healthy bit of competition on Wednesday 6 December.
The day even saw the teachers take on the students in a friendly game of basketball.
From soccer to cricket, football, minor games, basketball, netball, yoga, dodgeball, tennis, hockey, and parachute games, students embraced the day with eagerness in perfect weather conditions.
Well-being co-ordinator Rachel Davis said the parachute game involved a cat and mouse game where students ran in and out of a parachute.
“They worked as a team to fling a pretend rubber chicken as high as they could in the air – one group accidently flung him onto the nearby roof.”
A ‘health chat’ activity also saw senior students demonstrating the amount of sugar in different soft drinks as well as discussing healthy eating.
Physical education co-ordinator Mark Trounson said the theme of the day was to enjoy sport with enthusiasm, effort and teamwork.
He said it was wonderful to see all the students enjoying themselves.
“The students certainly embraced these qualities and displayed some fantastic acts of sportsmanship.”
The school thanks all parents who supported the students throughout the day.
