DIAMONDS may be a girl’s best friend, but Paula Westaway prefers Amethyst. Or is that Labradorite? It seems the Crystal World employee is spoilt for choice at the company’s Devon Meadows warehouse.
Founded by world leading geologist Tom Kapitany, the specialised rock, crystal and fossil nursery has recently celebrated its tenth year of trading.
After graduating from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Geology and Biology, Kapitany has since been scouring the world for unique additions to his rather large collection of stone, fossils, dinosaur bones, gemstones, and fossilised wood.
According to Westaway, he’s a bit of an adventurer and Kapitany agrees. Having leases with more than 50 mines across Australia and sourcing gems and fossils from the United States, Brazil and Europe, there’s no denying Kapitany is fascinated with his work. Kapitany said there were big plans to house school excursions in the near future.
Crystal World, which offers a 25 per cent off sale this Friday from 6-9pm, is situated at 13 Olive Road, Devon Meadows. Melways Map Ref 138 B 8.
