Casey Highway Patrol had a busy 30-minute period on Grand Final day, Saturday 30 September, with two drivers keen to attract their attention.
At 7.50pm a 19-year-old Narre Warren man was caught driving at 114km/h in an 80km/h section of the Princes Highway.
The P1 driver was intercepted and lost his licence for a month as well as receiving a penalty notice for $515 and losing four demerit points.
At 8.20pm the same crew observed a Ford Territory fishtail on the Princes Highway at Hallam.
The Ford was followed and then clocked at 74km/h in a 50km/h zone.
Police intercepted the car and spoke to the 21-year-old P2 driver from Murrumbeena.
He was given a preliminary breath test and was required to undergo an evidentiary test at the station.
He returned an alleged reading of 0.066 and is expected to be summonsed for drink driving and numerous other traffic offences.
The intercepts formed part of Operation Scoreboard, a state-wide focus on road user behaviour targeting speed, driver distraction, seatbelt non-compliance, fatigue and drink and drug driving in an effort to reduce road trauma.
