Library takes it quietly

By Brendan Rees

Dedicated quiet spaces will be open in Casey Cardinia libraries (CCL) for students across the region to bunker down during the exam period.
CCL CEO, Chris Buckingham, said there were concerns from the community about noise levels.
“We’re responding promptly – with the impending exam season looming, this is now a priority.
“We’ve always offered free wi-fi, but now each library will also offer free refreshments for students putting in long hours. Check cclc.vic.gov.au for your nearest branch.”
Doveton and Pakenham Libraries are also trialling new opening hours starting from October, which will run through to March 2018.
Doveton library will open on a Wednesday for the first time. Local community response on hearing the news had been fantastic, Mr Buckingham said.
“Doveton Library will open on Wednesdays from 1.30pm to 8pm commencing 4 October while Pakenham Library will increase its open hours on Fridays to 8pm from 6 October, and Sundays 1pm to 4pm from 1 October.”
To celebrate the new opening hours, both libraries are holding a series of free events for kids and adults. Visit the CCL website for details – cclc.vic.gov.au
