Sunday 30 July marked the 21st annual National Tree Day, with about 250 members of the Casey community coming out to revegetate an open space site on Hessell Road in Harkaway.
Casey’s Plant Your Roots event saw the planting of 12,000 indigenous plants in just under two hours.
The City of Casey extended a formal thankyou to all of the community volunteers who gave up their Sunday to pitch in and help care for the environment.
Star News photographer Gary Sissons went along to the event in Harkaway to capture the planting in progress.
