Bulb ban program

COASTAL Village residents and workers can have their light bulbs replaced free of charge with energy efficient ones.
The Tooradin and Coastal Villages Bendigo Bank branch will work with the Balla Balla Lions Club to implement the Ban the Bulb program.
Belinda Flanagan from the Tooradin and Coastal Villages bank said home and business owners could sign up at the bank branch to get old bulbs replaced and changed with energy efficient ones at no cost.
“Volunteers from Balla Balla Lions Club then visit the property and swap the bulbs for new ones and for each one exchanged the community group is paid $2,” Mrs Flanagan said.
Darryl Sutcliffe from the Balla Balla Lions Club said participants could see their energy bills fall by as much as $100 a year and businesses could cut their electricity costs by 30 per cent.
“We hope to replace about 6500 bulbs and raise up to $13,000 that will go towards supporting worthwhile community based projects,” Mr Sutcliffe said. For more information call the Tooradin and Coastal Villages Bendigo Bank on 5998 3038.
