LYNDHURST Secondary College student Jake Wiley has won a national logo design competition.
Jake, 16, took out first prize in the Beacon Foundation competition for his “edgy design and confident use of graphics”. The competition was to design the organisation’s new logo.
He has won a week of work experience in the design department at Smash Enterprise in Melbourne and will work with the design team to bring his logo to commercial standard. He has also won his choice of a Nintendo Wii console or iPod Nano and a $1000 sports pack for his school. Lyndhurst Secondary College students Samson Manu and Amy Daeche were also highly commended.
Beacon Foundation chief executive Scott Harris said the company wanted to involve students in its search for a new, modern logo.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for Jake to gain some valuable experience and it mirrors perfectly what Beacon is all about – giving young Australians opportunities to reach their full potential with the support of business and industry and the wider community,” Mr Harris said.
The Beacon Foundation is a national not-for-profit organisation working with schools to help students with the school to work transition through its unique No Dole program.
