Pakenham based Khan’s Hospitality Services has teamed up with the Cranbourne Food Truck to give the most vulnerable community members in Melbourne’s south-east a hot meal.
Khan’s Hospitality is providing the Cranbourne Food Truck with a prepared meal to serve from the truck on a weekly basis.
Khan’s Hospitality Services owner Adam Sadiqzai said the business providing food for the most vulnerable in the Cranbourne community is part of his business ethos.
“I first became aware of the food truck through local media and it sparked interest,” Mr Sadiqzai said.
“I liked they were helping the local community, particularly in Cranbourne, which is an area that really needs a bit of help and support.”
“It fits in with my business philosophy of having business with a purpose and we have been doing things like this for a long time, helping a lot of groups in Casey and Cardinia.”
Khan’s cooks meals for the food truck using fresh ingredients that than get be given to those in the community looking for a hot meal and place to go.
The Cranbourne Food Truck’s client base has grown over the last few months where they attract between 250 and 300 people a month.
Chris Marsh from the Cranbourne Food Truck said the food donations from Khan’s has been a great help in keeping the truck up and running.
“It has been a really good relationship and it has helped us in a sticky moment when our cooks are away on holiday,” she said.
“Because the truck is all volunteers, it can be hard to find people to slot in; it’s not like a workplace where you can cover shifts so this has been a godsend.”
