A TAXI driver was hit over the head with a coin dispenser when he refused to hand over money in Hampton Park, police said.
Police said the driver picked up two males from Mark Court in Hampton Park about 8.30pm on 31 August. When they reached their destination at the nearby James Wyman Place the rear passenger got out of the taxi and demanded the driver hand over the night’s takings.
When the driver refused, he pulled out a knife and attempted to stab the driver through a window, police said. The front passenger then took the coin dispenser and allegedly hit the driver over the head before both males ran off.
Police are appealing for people to come forward if they could identify the two males involved in the assault by calling Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
