THE science behind the perfect pirouette was just one of the projects Year 7 St Peter’s College students presented at their science fair this month.
The Cranbourne students worked in groups and presented more than 70 experiments during the Year 7 Science Fair, which showcased their findings on an experiment of their choice after their first term of science. Other experiments included rocket cars and the growth of bacteria in the home.
Year 12 students judged the experiments on the day.
This year marked the sixth year the school had held the fair, so the Year 12 students who judged this year’s event were the first batch of Year 7 students to participate in the fair when it started.
Science co-ordinator Barry Fisher said the fair was an opportunity for students to talk science.
“It is a peer assessment day and the concept is a group project that encourages students to work together as a team,” he said.
The science fair was held during the afternoon of 11 September. The major winners will be announced later in the year.
