Pepper spray attack

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an incident in Hampton Park in which a motorist was sprayed with pepper spray when he stopped at traffic lights.
Police said a 21-year-old Berwick man, driving a Commodore sedan, travelled west along Pound Road about 4.45am on 28 August when another vehicle started to follow him.
The vehicle, believed to be a late-model green Jeep Cherokee or Wrangler, pulled out from Shrives Road and the driver flashed their lights on high beam, police said.
The Berwick man stopped at the traffic lights at the intersection of Hallam Road and the other vehicle, which had four males inside, pulled up in the lane next to him.
Police said the attacker jumped out from the right rear passenger side, put the bottom of his T-shirt over his hand and opened the man’s door, before allegedly spraying pepper spray in the man’s face.
The driver of the green vehicle called out “come on, Robbie” to the attacker before the victim accelerated from the scene, police said.
The attacker is described as being aged in his twenties, with a dark complexion, solid build, a shaved head and wearing a white T-shirt and light blue jeans.
The driver is believed to have a dark complexion and was wearing a distinctive purple loose hat.
