They did it all for Mel

By Victoria Stone-Meadows

WHEN these few blokes get together to do something nice for a friend; they really get something special happening.
The Better Life for Mel fund-raiser dominated the Cranbourne Racecourse on Sunday 27 November, all to help Mel Popple from Tooradin who was tragically diagnosed with cancer for the third time.
The woman of the hour said she couldn’t believe the support from all her friends, family and the wider community.
“It has been an emotional roller-coaster of a day but it has been very hard to wipe the smile from my face,” she said.
“I have been moved to tears but they have been tears of happiness and I cannot thank everyone enough for bringing out their pride and joy just to support me.”
Mel said without the support from the people around her, she wouldn’t be as strong as she was today.
“I want to give a huge thanks to everyone,” she said.
“Everyone’s kind wishes and positivity is what helps me to keep fighting on and it’s amazing how uplifting it is.”
Event organiser Stuart Smith said the event went very smoothly and everyone was “over the moon” with the results.
