Crime doesn’t pay

A WOULD-BE burglar broke into the wrong house on Houdsforth Street in Cranbourne after being spooked by the occupant of the house he thought empty.
The female occupant of the house heard noises in her lounge room at about 9.30am on Thursday 24 November where she was confronted by the unknown intruder.
The man fled the house as soon as he realised he had been caught and the occupant of the house called police.
A short time later, the intruder was found by police hiding out in the front yard of a neighbouring house.
The 48-year-old man from Hampton Park was arrested on the spot and will appear in court at a later date.
