Bat chase backfires

A CRANBOURNE man was bashed with his own baseball bat after an argument at a petrol station last week.
Police said the 19yearold was using the ATM inside the BP service station on High Street, Cranbourne, about 6pm on Wednesday 9 November when the dispute took place.
It is believed two former friends of the teenager noticed him inside the shop and began shouting abuse through the window.
The teenager went to his car and produced a baseball bat before chasing the two men around the station.
However his plans backfired when one of the men stole his baseball bat and began attacking him.
They then smashed the man’s car, causing damage with an estimated repair bill of more than $3000.
The two men drove off and came back a short time later with a steak knife and another baseball bat, but were arrested by police who had been called to the scene.
The teenager suffered cuts to his hands and bruising in the attack.
A 20yearold man and 17yearold youth have been interviewed and released on summons.
They are expected to be charged with intentionally causing damage and assault causing injury.
