WOUNDED Freestyle Motocross (FMX) celebrity Cam Sinclair was given the green-light to leave hospital in Spain and receive further treatment in Melbourne after his near-fatal accident last month.
On 17 July at the Red Bull X Fighters in Madrid, Mr Sinclair crashed his bike when he under rotated his signature double back flip during a battle against US competitor Jeremy ‘Twitch’ Strenberg.
He was rushed to hospital and had emergency surgery for a severely lacerated liver, head injuries, fractures to his cheek and right shoulder and damage to his lungs and wind pipe.
Surgeons saved Mr Sinclair’s life by stopping the internal bleeding. He was kept under close observation in Madrid’s Gregorio Maranon University hospital.
In a statement, Mr Sinclair said he looked forward to recovering from his injuries at home.
“I just want to be home around all my family and friends. I can’t wait to just lie on my own couch, watch TV and let my body heal,” he said.
For Mr Sinclair to be released from hospital in Madrid, he was required to travel on a business class flight with a paramedic specially trained to assist patients with air travel.
More scans and tests are expected to be done in Melbourne to verify whether Mr Sinclair required further treatment. He is expected to make a full recovery.
