Daredevil can’t recall the fall

FREESTYLE motorbike rider Cam Sinclair has suffered memory loss after his fall in Madrid and cannot remember ever landing one of his signature double back-flips.
Mr Sinclair’s friends had to show the daring rider photographs of his double back-flips to prove to him he had landed the stunt, which he has done more than 20 times.
Mr Sinclair, originally from Pearcedale, is one of few people in the world who have ever successfully landed the trick.
Friend and manager Adam Bailey said Mr Sinclair had lost his memory of the past month, but doctors said it should improve with time.
“He commented that it (double back-flip) was “sick” when we showed him the photo of himself,” Mr Bailey said. “Unfortunately he had also forgotten his good friend Jeremy Lusk had passed away recently and had to be reminded of this tragedy.”
Last week the News reported Mr Sinclair was lucky to be alive after he under-rotated a double back-flip during the Red Bull X Fighters series in Madrid.
He was in intensive care after he ruptured his liver, broke his shoulder, cheekbone and was knocked unconscious.
On Saturday, about a week after the fall, Mr Sinclair took four small steps from his hospital bed to his chair.
Providing updates on Mr Sinclair’s website, his brother Mick said improvements were continuing. “His memory continues to get better and he is actually starting to get cheeky with us and the hospital staff,” Mick Sinclair said.
After the results of an MRI scan, it would be clearer when Mr Sinclair could leave Spain for Australia. “Once Cam is home, the rehab will start and he will need a lot of time relaxing. At the moment they are saying six to 12 months off the bike, I think it will be a lot closer to six than 12,” Mick Sinclair said. Mr Bailey said the support from fans continued to be overwhelming.
