INTRUDERS left the Tooradin Sports Club with an empty shopping trolley this week after security there proved too great when they attempted to steal items.
Three masked offenders with a shopping trolley broke into the club about 2am on Tuesday 14 July using a sledge hammer to smash doors, locks and two security cameras.
But general manager of the club Mark Griffiths said the offenders left the premises less than five minutes after entering, after they unsuccessfully attempted to break into the office. “They tried to break into the office, but we have secure dead-bolts and solid core doors,” Mr Griffiths said.
The offenders left with nothing, but caused “thousands” of dollars worth of damage, Mr Griffiths said.
“But we are pleased the security was adequate and that we proved we are a difficult target,” he said.
Mr Griffiths said significant security upgrades had taken place after burglars broke into the club and stole items about 18 months ago. Police are looking for those responsible as investigations continue.
