AN EQUESTRIAN centre in the heart of the Cranbourne Turf Club is on the cards.
At a council meeting on Tuesday 6 September, Casey councillor Geoff Ablett raised a notice of motion for the development of an equestrian centre and a learn to ride free program at Cranbourne’s training hub.
Cr Ablett said he hopes a centre would help to reinvigorate Casey’s youth into the sport.
“This would be for everyone but hopefully kids will want to have a go at sitting on a pony and learn to ride,” Cr Ablett said.
“It’s something that is really exciting.”
Relevant council officers will now meet with the Cranbourne Recreation Reserve Committee and the Turf Club to discuss the availability of any potential land at the centre.
Cr Ablett wants to ensure a learn to ride for free program would be at the heart of the centre.
Decorated horse trainer Colin Alderson has also thrown his weight behind the idea.
