MOTORCYCLISTS and eight SES volunteers formed a human chain to rescue a Cranbourne man who was thrown from his motorcycle down an embankment at Heath Hill on Sunday morning.
Sergeant David Burton, of Warragul’s Traffic Management Unit, said the 62-year-old man was travelling north-west on Westernport Road when he failed to negotiate a right-hand bend, hitting a rail at the intersection of North Yannathan Road at 10.55am.
Pakenham SES volunteers used ropes and general rescue skills to assist ambulance officers in bringing the injured rider back up to the road.
The man, a motorcyclist with the Mornington Wanderers branch of the Ulysses Motorcycle Club, was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with serious injuries.
