IT’S a new digital age for Casey residents seeking a disabled parking permit.
According to the Casey Council, it’s an easier and faster experience – one they’re saying is an Aussie first.
The council has introduced a new service which allows residents to apply for a disabled parking permit online with their doctor.
Casey mayor Sam Aziz said what was an arduous task for some of the city’s most vulnerable residents had been made simple.
“Previously, applying for a permit required obtaining a paper form from the council, completing it, visiting a doctor to get it signed off and then coming back to a council office to have the permit issued,” Cr Aziz said.
The new digital process allows residents to visit their doctor and fill out the online form together, which is then automatically submitted to the council for consideration.
The streamlined process is a part of the council’s ‘Digital Casey Strategy’.
“The council is working to create innovative services that are easy to use and work effectively, with progress being made to digitise and simplify some of the council’s other highly-utilised services in the near future,” Cr Aziz said.
