Vandals strike car yard

LESS than one month after opening, a Cranbourne trader is counting his losses after being robbed for the third time. The manager of CC Motors in Cranbourne, Phil Proud, said about $15,000 damage had been caused at his secondhand car business during the last few weeks. It was a very disappointing start to business, he said.
During the latest incident on the weekend, vandals jumped on five cars “like trampolines” and stole three radios. Police said one number plate was also stolen.
Mr Proud said similar damage had been caused during two other occasions in the past three weeks and had sent three of his cars away to be repaired. Mag wheels were removed from one car, he said.
“It’s hard coming in on Monday morning to start a nice, fresh week and see this,” he said.
“It’s hard enough selling cars in this day and age, let alone have them vandalised. We all will just keep plodding away and put this behind us.”
