CRIME fuelled by fuel has cops concerned.
And they’ve spoken out on Facebook to help stop petrol station car thefts.
Casey police have put out a reminder to anyone paying for petrol, to lock their car and keep their keys on them during the short walk to and from the register.
The reminder posted on the Eyewatch Facebook page said: “Don’t leave your keys in your car!”
“There have been a few recent incidents where keys have been left in unlocked vehicles while the owners pay for fuel in the Casey area.
“Opportunistic thieves are then stealing the cars by simply driving away in the cars.”
Police urge victims to come forward and report such incidents as well as any suspicious behaviour.
Narre Warren police can be contacted on 9705 3111 and Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
