Seth’s new ride is on Corvettes

SETH Sleep may not have had a pushbike for more than a month, but he did have a band of friends at Corvettes of Melbourne, ready to get him some new wheels.
Leukaemia deprived nine-year-old Seth of riding his Giant BMX, which was gifted to him by his poppy – and then thieves did.
The bike was spotted missing from the Sleep’s garage in Narre Warren South on Friday 27 May.
After a wide police search, the BMX worth close to $500 wasn’t found.
Having beaten the blood cancer late last year, Seth had been behind the handles of his BMX just a dozen times before it was stolen.
The bike was originally bought to help strengthen Seth’s legs after 70 rounds of chemotherapy.
Seth’s dad Simon Sleep said he was “overwhelmed” with the support from Corvettes of Melbourne (COM) and Kristjan Snorrason owner at Berwick Cycles.
“Kristjan contacted me via Facebook and said that he and his wife had a bike they’d like to give Seth,” he said. But Seth didn’t like the colour and the right one got ordered.
With some fund-raising from COM and Berwick Cycles’ generosity, Seth now has a bike.
COM raised $500 for the Sleep family.
“Berwick Cycles discounted the bike Seth had chosen and gave both Seth and his sister, Holly helmets because Seth’s was also stolen with the bike,” Simon said.
COM met Seth at Puffing Billy to officially present him with his new bike and to take a look at their own sparkling wheels.
