Phone stolen after women ambushed on footpath

TWO female friends were ambushed on a Hampton Park footpath by a man who threatened them with a machete.
The girls were walking on Hallam Road when a car came to a halt with three men inside.
The black Holden sedan stopped near the pair about 4.50am, on Saturday 16 July before a man of African appearance got out of the car holding a machete, and demanded the girls hand over a phone.
One of the girls threw her phone on the ground and the perpetrator picked it up and jumped back in the car.
The car, described as similar to a Holden Cruise, was last seen travelling towards Huntington Drive.
Police attended the scene and no one was injured in the robbery.
