Small properties to be exempt

LANDOWNERS on two hectares or less whose properties fall in the Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) investigation area will not have to pay the infrastructure tax.
The State Government announced the exemption to the Growth Areas Infrastructure Charge (GAIC) scheme last week when it altered the boundaries in Casey.
Parts of Devon Meadows and Clyde have now been left out of the investigation area.
Residents who have their principal place of residence on a block or land on two hectares or less will not incur the tax.
The tax will also not apply to land inheritances, family transfers or to farmers who want to retire on their land, Planning Minister Justin Madden said.
There are 389 properties inside the proposed UGB for Casey and these include public land, roads as well as privately owned properties. Public submissions close on 17 July.
