SENIOR Lyndhurst Secondary College students learnt the ins and outs of the online world when a guest speaker visited them recently.
Greg Geppart, who works for the Federal Government, spoke to the Year 11 and 12 students last month about cyber bullying and the possible dangers of social networking sites such as My Space and Facebook.
Senior teaching and learning leader Jeff McMillin said the students were engaged during the presentation.
“The speaker offered general education for the students about some mistakes people make and the legalities of what can go horribly wrong,” Mr McMillin said.
“He was quite abrupt with the kids and spoke about cyber bullying, what it is and what it isn’t and what it means if you get caught.”
The presentation was hands on and included visual presentations, Mr McMillin said. “We hope it stops the students getting threatened in any way by cyber bullying…our aim was to educate the kids in this,” he said.
