MEMBERS of the Cranbourne Rotary Club welcomed their new president Stan Bankes- Fay on Friday night and celebrated a successful year at the club’s 42nd changeover dinner.
About 90 people attended the Cranbourne Rotary Club changeover dinner at the Settlers Run Golf Club.
New president Stan Bankes-Fay said some of his aims for the next year were to continue the good working relationship with the Inner Wheel Club of Cranbourne, generate a good relationship with Casey council and try to recruit more members.
“New blood means new ideas,” he said.
“I also want to support Cranbourne Information and Support Service (CISS) as much as we can, particularly in the present climate.”
Mr Bankes-Fay said he was very proud to take on the reins as president.
“Who would have thought five years on from when I was sitting on a plane from England that I would be standing here.”
Outgoing president Peter Scollo said members should be proud of this year’s efforts, especially the dedication shown to their major project helping with recovery in Labertouche after Black Saturday.
“That fire touched everyone in one way or another,” Mr Scollo said.
“We can all get in there and help.
“I thank the club’s members for their rapid response to the working bees. And Bruce Peterson raised $6000 virtually overnight.”
Mr Scollo said major events such as the swap meet, golf day and the business breakfast were all great success stories.
“These fundraisers just keep rolling on from people’s dedication to making them work.
“I feel that a special mention must be given to all those on district committees. To Ian Symons, Trevor Bew, Andrew Ling and Harry Ziegerink, the club is appreciative of all your time and effort that goes unseen.
“Thank you to the members for the support and trust you’ve put in me to guide the club for the last 12 months.”
