Catalyst for new teaching

Narre Warren South MP Judith Couacaud Graley visited the school to discuss the college's future and took an interest in year seven students Hristina, Max and Aleksander and their drone.

HAMPTON Park Secondary College will soon have a fresh take on teaching science, technology, engineering and maths.
Two teachers from the college will receive specialist training as part of the STEM Catalysts program which will then enable them to support other year seven and eight teachers.
The program is part of a $30 million State Government initiative to boost science and maths teaching for students from disadvantaged areas.
Kilberry Valley Primary School will also be supported by the funds along with 200 teachers at 100 schools across the state.
Hampton Park Secondary College Assistant Principal Sue Glenn said the initiative will give students more opportunities.
“In turn, it will prepare them for the careers of the future by equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to become tomorrow’s innovators, researchers and entrepreneurs,” Ms Glenn said.
