MARRIOTT Waters will be the home of a new state-of-the-art primary school, expected to open in 2011.
Lyndhurst Primary School will be built on a 3.5 hectare site within the residential development, which has been chosen by the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
The Prep to Year 6 primary school will feature modern and sustainable facilities.
Villawood Properties, Marriott Waters’ development manager, formalised the sale of the land this month.
“We are thrilled to see the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development saw the need for such a school in the growth corridor of Lyndhurst, and have embraced the location with plans for an opening for 2011,” Villawood Properties joint executive director Tony Johnson said.
“We look forward to watching the school’s construction and hope that many of our local children will experience not only a quality Victorian government school education, but develop lasting friendships and great memories as part of their time there.”
Up to 750 students will be able to attend the school, which is expected to open for the 2011 school year
In December Premier John Brumby announced that 11 schools in Melbourne’s growth areas would be built in partnership with Axiom Education Victoria. Four of the schools are being built in the City of Casey.
