Birds of prey fly into school

BIRDS of prey flew into Tooradin Primary school last week as part of a unique lesson about raptors.
The Full Flight RaptorConservation Centre visited Tooradin Primary School on Tuesday 5 May.
Students were entertained by hawks, owls and buzzards. With guidance, students also handled a wedge-tailed eagle.
“Through the session students learnt that all raptor numbers in the wild (except for the wedge-tailed eagle) are declining,” teacher Craig Friebe said.
“This is mainly due to the destruction of their native habitat. They also saw first-hand the features that assist the peregrine falcon, the fastest bird in the world, to fly at well over 300 kilometres per hour.”
Mr Friebe said the visit was a great success.
